Community Consolidated School District #180 provides superior educational opportunities for approximately 750 students The school district is housed in two separate buildings, both on 91st Street. Burr Ridge Middle School is located at 15W451 91st Street and serves grades five through eight. Anne M. Jeans School is located at 16 W 631 91st Street and serves pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. The present district covers 7.62 square miles of Southeast DuPage County with boundary lines of 87th street on the North, the Illinois Sag Canal on the South, County Line Road on the East, and the West boundaries of Clarendon Hills Road to 97th Street, then due west to Lemont Road at Argonne National Laboratory then south from 97th Street to the Cook-DuPage County line.

Such was not always the case. In the beginning there was no school district here. Children of the area were forced to walk three miles over fields in order to get an education at Cass School. The area at that time was known as Byrneville. In the early 1900's the area in side the boundaries of the present school district looked quite different than it does today. The Byrneville Station in the early 1900's was located at the south end of Madison Street. This station was an important means of transportation but was primarily used to deliver milk from dairy farms in the area. Members of this community realized the need to do something about their children's education. One member of the community, William C. Jeans, was among the first to take action to solve this problem. He and Mr. John Doolin, a professor from Lemont, with the help of Mr. F. C. Tiedt and Mr. William Wachter were instrumental in forming a school district in this area. Since the area had been known as Byrneville, the school district became known as Byrneville School and was governed by a three man board.

A one room school house was built and ready for occupancy in 1910. This original portion of the schoolhouse was still in use, as the Superintendents Office until 1994 when Burr Ridge Middle School was completely rebuilt.

In 1910 the first teacher in the one room school was Miss Anne M. Jeans. Miss Jeans was the only teacher at Byrneville School until 1947. She taught all eight grades and had students from ages five to twenty. Sometimes she has as many as sixty children in her one room school. Miss Jeans taught all subjects and managed to take her students on numerous educational field trips to places such as Springfield, Illinois. Miss Jeans was also obliged to do her own janitorial work. In addition, she often held plays and recitals to earn money for books and supplies. It was Miss Jeans who decided to change the name of the school from Byrneville to Palisades as that name means "rolling hills" as she wished the name to reflect something of the area.

Washrooms were added to the original structure in 1934. As the years passed and the population increased, new developments and additions signaled the end of the one room school, and Miss Jeans then became the first principal of Palisades. Anne M. Jeans retired from her teaching/administrative duties in 1958. Palisades West School was renamed and dedicated Anne M. Jeans School in October, 1979.

Miss Anne M. Jeans lived in the area all her life in a house just off Madison Street. She passed away in 1988 at the age of 95 years. She visited Anne M. Jeans school a few times and talked to the children. Miss Jeans was an energetic, sharp, and intelligent woman and we are honored our school was named for such a great lady!
