The school will include students that have demonstrated social/emotional difficulties in the traditionallearning environment. The highly trained staff will focus on the student's academic problem areas thereby reducing emotional difficulties that prevent them from achieving their educational goals. The natural desire of individuals is to achieve and succeed in whatever you do, so our goal is to create an environment where the focus is academic achievement that provides every opportunity for success.

By presenting various academic strategies that our staff have been trained to utilize, we will give the students the tools to grow in their academic path to success.

The school day will begin with the students being dropped off by buses in the front of the building. Staff from each classroom will be present to receive them and escort them immediately to their classrooms.

The Special Education classrooms will hold up to approximately ten students each, there will be a ratio of 5 students to at least one highly trained staff member.  This will result in two highly trained staff in the classroom. With such a small ratio, the students will be supervised at all times. The students will have the majority of their academic periods in the classroom.

The Out Of Placement Students (OOPS) classroom consists of one regular education Teacher with up to 20-25 students at any given time.  These students have put themselves in a position of making an “OOPS”.  Unfortunately, this “OOPS” does not allow the student to remain in their regular educational facility; in the interim these students will attend and participate in the OOPS classroom.

At the end of the day, staff will escort the students to their buses.  The Teacher Assistants that spend the day with the students will also supervise the students on their trip to and from school.

Program Description

INSPIRE Academy is a community of learning where students have the opportunity to be successful.  The teaching each student will receive will include modified lessons that focus on their individual learning style: oral, written, and kinesthetic (hands on experience). Assignments, quizzes, and examinations will be given on an on-going basis to evaluate the students’ progress.  Students will have several opportunities to improve their grade by correcting and re-doing their assignments as needed.  As a result of these modifications, 75 percent will be considered the minimum passing grade.

Building relationships between the Teacher and student is essential.  INSPIRE Academy is a caring environment that promotes success.  Building relationships helps the student to better understand their personal needs and concerns.

Our students with disabilities will develop a sense of achievement in their lives.  As a school, we have an obligation to teach and promote academic success.  In order to attain that academic success, the emotional and behavioral factors must be understood and addressed with the student in order to help them focus on their academics.  Building relationship helps to achieve this goal.

As a community, INSPIRE Academy will encourage a community of positivity, caring, and encouragement for each other within a climate of accepting only the best from the teachers and students.

Field trips are an important and integral part of the program to promote positive social behavior, enrich the academic environment and supplement the learning process.

The staff at INSPIRE Academy are highly qualified in their field of work and have taken courses required to respond to the needs of the Special Education population.  Teacher Assistants are state certified and are competent to assist the teacher in the classroom environment.  Behavior Management Specialists have the qualifications not only to be able to provide services to the student as needed, but also to guide parents in the direction that will assist them in finding and addressing the emotional needs of their child.

The main purpose at INSPIRE Academy is to work with students in an environment that enables learning.  In doing so, students have the opportunity to learn not only academic and social concerns, but also to have the opportunity to return to the regular educational classroom.  If it is not in the best interest of the student transitioning back to the regular educational classroom, INSPIRE Academy will focus on a continuation of services with the student until that goal is possible.
