At its January 15 meeting, the Burr Ridge CCSD #180 Board
of Education reviewed its communication strategies with community
members and parents. To enhance its public relations plan, the
Board approved a twice yearly mailing to all school district
residents that will feature the progress, improvements, and major
activities of the school district. Mailings will be sent at the
end of the fiscal year (July-August) and at the end of the calendar
year (December-January). Creation, duplication, collation, and
mailing preparation will be completed in-house, resulting in
cost savings to the district. Burr Ridge CCSD 180 has recently
established a monthly newsletter for distribution to students'
parents, has increased the informational data on its website
at http://www.ccsd180.org, and is in the process of developing
district and building level brochures.
In other action, the Burr Ridge CCSD #180 Board . . .
. . . approved a Design/Build Contract with Wight and Company
for Burr Ridge Middle School cafeteria/kitchen expansion and
for two additional classrooms and a storage area at Anne M. Jeans
Elementary School at a maximum estimated cost of $1.474 million.
The additions and improvements will not result in increases in
the tax rate of school district residents.
. . . approved a contract with Industrial Appraisal Company
for Fixed Asset and Insurance Appraisal Services at an initial
cost of $3,765.
. . . accepted the quotation of McGinnis Decorating, Inc.
for the complete installation and materials for a Snaptex Fabric
Wall Panel project in the Burr Ridge Middle School Gymnasium
to improve the quality of sound in the gymnasium.
. . . presented a plaque of excellence to student Matt Staley
for his contributions to the school district and for his efforts
to overcome physical disabilities to be a model student.
. . . heard a presentation by principals Dr. Debra LeBlanc
and Mr. Charles Accardi about the teacher supervision system
at CCSD 180.
. . . met and employed Sarah LaRocco as special education
teacher and employed Natalie Lesnick as special education teacher
aide.
. . . accepted the resignations of Carrie Serna and Ashfaq
Kahn as special education teacher aides.
. . . offered employment as Principals for the coming school
year to Mr. Charles Accardi and Dr. Debra LeBlanc.
. . . offered employment as Superintendent for the 2002-03,
2003-04, 2004-05 school years to Dr. Frank Rink.
. . . approved the 2001-02 seniority list for teacher review
and posting by February 1, 2002.
. . . reviewed and discussed a tentative calendar for 2002-03
that is consistent with the calendar of Hinsdale South High School.
. . . reviewed proposed policies relative to Section 2 - Board
of Education - as stipulated in the Board's policy review schedule.
Final reading and adoption of this section is scheduled for the
February Board meeting. The Board also finalized its policy revision
on bullying.
