Summary of February 20, 2007 Board of Education Meeting

In-house alternative schooling considered at CCSD 180

At its February 20, 2007 meeting, the Burr Ridge CCSD #180 Board of Education gave the green light to administrators to further pursue the possibility of establishing an alternative school within the school district. Special Education Coordinator and Burr Ridge Middle School Principal Dr. Debra LeBlanc presented information about the advantages of housing a program at CCSD 180. Tuition and related costs to send district children to out of district placements will approach one million dollars in 2006-07. In addition to the potential for cost savings, a CCSD 180 program will provide consistency of curriculum and staff, which will benefit students in need of a structured approach to their learning. Discussion about the program and facilities will continue at the Board’s March 20, 2007 meeting.
