At its April 26, 2005 meeting, the CCSD 180 Board of Education welcomed Renee F. Paladino and Anne Tuchek as new Board of Education members as the result of their victories in the April 5 election. They replace retiring Board members Gloria Pavese and Robert Mihalkanin. Incumbents Dr. Donald Higgins, Jr. and Louis Ebert were reseated as Board members following their elections as well. During the organizational phase of the meeting, the Board of Education elected Jill A. Coleman as President, Dr. Donald Higgins as Vice-President, Dr. Linda Jones as Secretary, and Louis Ebert as Treasurer. The officers will serve two-year terms in those roles until April 2007. In other action, the Burr Ridge CCSD #180 Board . . . . . . reviewed and approved he 2005-06 Burr Ridge Middle School Student Handbook as proposed by Principal Dr. Debra LeBlanc. . . . heard a presentation by superintendent Dr. Frank Rink regarding the upcoming property tax extension. Taxpayers in the school district will see yet another reduction in their CCSD 180 tax rate of well over 6%. . . . following a summary by Superintendent Rink regarding the April 16, 2005 “Those Who Excel” Awards ceremony in Springfield, passed a resolution of congratulations for Illinois State Board of Education “Those Who Excel” Award Winners from CCSD 180: Mrs. Mary Kinsman (Award of Recognition), Mrs. Meghan Radtke (Award of Recognition), The CCSD 180 Foundation for Excellence represented by its President, Mrs. Pamela Slater (Award of Recognition), Mr. Bob Klaus (Award of Merit), and Mrs. Paula Dupont (Award of Merit). . . . heard presentations of several musical selections by the cast of The Music Man as they prepared for their April 28, 29, and 30, 2005 production of the musical. . . . approved Burr Ridge CCSD 180 Policies – First Half of Section 7, Students. . . . presented its Award of Excellence to students Jessica Vincetic, Anna Valcour, Joyce Okendo, and Amanda Gauthier. . . .designated Dr. Donald Higgins as the school district’s representative in the Illinois Association of School Boards. . . . approved outdoor surveillance equipment installation at Anne M. Jeans Elementary School. . . . approved the 2005-06 employment of Terrisa Kwasneski as P.E. teacher, Danielle Panico as math teacher, and Tammy Yates as art teacher. . . . accepted the FY05 School Library Per Capita Grant in the amount of $540.87. . . . reviewed the 2005 Illinois State Board of Education designation of CCSD 180 as a district in the highest category of financial strength. . . . approved installation of flooring/tile replacements at Anne M. Jeans Elementary School. . . . approved installation of an asphalt pathway parallel to east border of the parking lot at Anne M. Jeans Elementary School and parallel to 91st Street along CCSD 180 property. . . . passed a resolution of thanks and congratulations to April 7-8, 2005 Wellness and Nutrition Fair organizers and presenters. . . . approved membership in the Illinois Elementary School Association for 2005-06. . . . heard reports from the administration, including the following reports from Superintendent Rink: A.
