Summary of May 15, 2007 Board of Education Meeting

CCSD 180 names new Board members and officers

At its May 15, 2007 meeting, the Community Consolidated School District 180 Board of Education certified the April 17, 2007 election results indicating that Mrs. Paula Dupont, Mrs. Jenifer Mihalkanin, and Mr. Eric Bergstrom were elected to the CCSD #180 Board for four year terms. In ensuing action, Mrs. Dupont was elected president of the Board, Dr. Donald Higgins was elected vice-president, Mrs. Anne Tuchek was elected secretary, and Mr. Louis Ebert was elected treasurer. Officers will serve two-year terms.

In other action, the Burr Ridge CCSD #180 Board . . .

. . . approved the establishment of an in-district alternative school to begin operation in the 2007-08 school year.

. . . passed a resolution of Recognition/Congratulations for Cast, Crew, Directors, Parents. Staff, and Community for the production/presentation/support of the spring musical Oklahoma.

. . . approved a resolution of recognition/congratulations for Jake Mihalkanin, IESA Region A Scholar Attitude Award Winner.

. . . established dates for 2007-08 Board meetings as the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. A meeting calendar will be presented at the June 26, 2007 Board of Education Meeting.

. . . adopted a new Grade 5 Reading Series, Harcourt’s Story Town 2008.

. . . made its first Reading of a proposed revision to Policy 6:235 – Access to Electronic Networks.

. . . approved the amended 2007-2008 CCSD 180 Calendar.

. . . approved the 2007-2008 Burr Ridge Middle School Schedule.

. . . was entertained by the select BRMS vocal music ensemble, “Encore,” directed by Ms. Penny Wright.

. . . approved the purchase of a Kubota model ZD326 Tractor for groundskeeping.

. . . finalized plans and an invitational flyer for a May 21, 2007 open house for those considering enrollment at CCSD 180.

. . . re-appointed Member Dr. Donald Higgins as IASB Governing Board Representative for CCSD #180.

. . . accepted the resignation of Teacher Aide Mayra Battistoni and BRMS Secretary Maria Hruby with thanks to them for their service to the children of CCSD #180.

. . . approved a child-care leave as requested by Mrs. Maureen Denja.

. . . approved a request by Ms. Penny Wright to assign her to an 80% FTE vocal music teaching position at Anne M. Jeans Elementary School.

The Board’s next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of Burr Ridge CCSD #180.
