CCSD 180 Board of Education authorizes web-based student information system At its May 20, 2003 meeting, the Burr Ridge CCSD 180 Board
of Education authorized the purchase of Apple Computer Corporation's
PowerSchool, a student information system that will serve as
a dramatic improvement over the school district's current student
data retrieval program. During the presentation about the system,
Superintendent Frank Rink said, "Our current system is antiquated,
requires network server processes that are obsolete, is extraordinarily
time consuming to operate from a technical and secretarial perspective,
and often requires duplication of data inputting. The PowerSchool
system is web-based, totally integrated, can function on one
server with multiple users, and most importantly, provides future
potential for parent, staff, and student instant access to data
such as attendance, report cards, lunch balances, and curricular
scope and sequence." Cost of the system, including initial
training, is $19,999. Training and installation will begin immediately.
Rink commended the Board for its "commitment to meaningful
communication among all stakeholders within our school district
