Summary
of September 20, 2005 Board of Education Meeting
Three-year contract established between CCSD 180 Faculty
and Board of Education
At its September 20, 2005 meeting, the CCSD 180 Board of Education ratified
a three year contract between the Teachers’ Organization of Palisades/IEA-NEA
and Community Consolidated School District 180. The contract will be
in effect through August 2008. Teacher salaries, as reflected in cost
to the Board of Education, will increase 11.81% in 2005-06, 6.04% in
2006-07, and 5.32% in 2007-08. Increases were also approved for health
insurance contributions by the Board of Education and for extra-curricular
stipends. The contract gets CCSD 180 teachers closer to “average
salaries” in DuPage County and provides salary incentives for those
who pursue a Master’s Degree and beyond. Projections for the District’s
Education Fund at the end of the contract in 2008 show an $800,000 balance.
The Board’s ratification followed teacher approval of the contract
at a meeting held several days before the September 20 Board meeting.
In other action, the Burr Ridge CCSD #180 Board . . .
. . . approved salary and benefits parameters for support personnel and administrators
for 2005-06 with increases in the four percent (4%) range.
. . . approved the final budget for the 2005-06 school year. However, in light
of the fact that teacher, administrative, and support personnel salaries for
2005-06 had not been reflected in the budget because of ongoing negotiations,
the Board set November 8, 2005 as the public hearing for an amended 2005-06 budget.
The tentative, newly amended budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2005
will be on file and conveniently available for public inspection in the District
Office located at the Burr Ridge Middle School after 8:00 AM on the 7th day of
October, 2005. The public hearing on the amended budget will be held at 7:30
PM on the 8th day of November, 2005 at the District Office at Burr Ridge Middle
School, 15W451 91st St., Burr Ridge, Illinois 60527.
. . . approved the addition of one first grade homeroom and the employment of
one additional teacher as the result of growing enrollment at the first grade
level.
. . . in view of growing special education transportation needs, approved the
five year lease of two wheel-chair lift buses as submitted by Midwest Transit
Equipment at an annual cost of $8,907 for a demonstration bus and $9,240 for
a new bus.
. . . heard a proposal from DuPage County Community Resource Center leaders Cathy
Rager and Lori Ruzinski regarding implementation of the “Too Good for Drugs
Program” and the “Peer Assistance Leadership Program” at Burr
Ridge Middle School. The Board will take action on the proposal at its October
18, 2005 meeting.

. . . approved the annual applications of recognition of both schools at CCSD
180.
