Our First Two Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10's were a hit!

Thanks to all for a wonderfully successful first Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10!

A sense of community fosters within the entire school community the development of a cohesive social environment, an ‘esprit de corps.’ It promotes a sense of belonging and identity that can provide the motivation for successful involvement with our schools.

In addition to all the terrific events sponsored by our PTC, there are two events recently conducted at CCSD 180 that best exemplify this concept or goal. One is the exemplary and well-organized International Fair held last spring. The other is the First Annual Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10 mile race that was held on August 14 by the CCSD 180 Foundation for Excellence. All Foundation members, volunteers, parents, staff, contributors and vendors are to be congratulated for an outstanding event. I also know that all associated with the race would agree that the leadership, talents, and hard work of race coordinator Mr. John Gervase assured a highly successful, inaugural race. Over 270 runners participated in the race, and we anticipate that number to double in the coming year. Of course, those who benefit most are the children of CCSD 180, whose education will be enhanced through generous Foundation grants! It was an event to remember!

Thanks to all!

Second Annual Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10 was a great success!

A few morning showers did not dampen the spirits of the nearly 350 ten-mile runners, 50 children's race sprinters, and 50 volunteers who participated in the CCSD 180 Foundation for Excellence Second Annual Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10 held on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve and the Argonne National Lab Family Park.

Our generous Foundation members, volunteers, parents, staff, students, race contributors, vendors, DuPage Forest Preserve, and Argonne National Laboratory are to be congratulated for an outstanding event. I also know that all associated with the race would agree that the leadership, talents, and hard work of race coordinator Mr. John Gervase and Foundation President Mrs. Pamela Slater with the cooperation and generosity of Foundation Trustees and Volunteers assured a highly successful race. Of course, those who benefit most are the children of CCSD 180, whose education will be enhanced through generous Foundation projects! It was an event to remember! Thanks to all for enhancing our school community through this outstanding endeavor! I look forward to the Third Annual Xtreme 10 Race to be held on August 12, 2006!

CCSD 180 Foundation "Lottery" Fundraiser

I want to thank all who purchased tickets to support the CCSD 180 Foundation’s latest fundraiser. Using the Illinois pick three evening lottery numbers throughout October, the Foundation awarded $75 to the winning numbers each day and also awarded $500 to the person with the winning numbers on October 31. That anonymous winner donated the $500 back to the Foundation. THANK YOU! The fundraiser will help fund Foundation projects that will benefit the children of CCSD 180. Special thanks to Mrs. Gina Stephens for her efforts with this endeavor. Thank you for your support of our children and our Foundation. --Dr. Frank Rink, Superintendent
