A letter of introduction from Dr. Schneider follows:

THOMAS SCHNEIDER, ED.D.

July 1, 2007

Dear Parents/Guardians, Community Members and Colleagues of Burr Ridge C.C.S.D. 180,

Back in January the Board of Education of Burr Ridge C.C.S.D. 180 selected me to lead your school district.  Since that time, I have met with the administration and board members of Burr Ridge.  Now, as I have officially begun my tenure at Burr Ridge, I look forward to meeting with parents, community members and students as we work together to move the district forward.

As you know from my earlier letter, as your superintendent, I will work hard to build on the strengths of the district and continue to focus on positive home and school relationships. My guiding principle will be to ensure the success of all of the children of the Burr Ridge C.C. School District 180 community.

I welcome your suggestions and I encourage your interest and active participation in helping our District meet the needs of all our students. My first priority is to listen, my door is open to all, and I encourage you to contact me. I look forward to meeting you.

As I am new to the Burr Ridge C.C.S.D. 180 school community, you may be interested to know that I received a doctorate in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. My experience in education includes being a successful classroom teacher at the elementary, middle school and high school level. I also have experience working with students as a coach as for many years I coached high school football, wrestling and track. I have been the lead administrator in an elementary setting, a middle school principal, and superintendent. I am also an adjunct professor for Concordia University.

Education has always been an important part of my family. Both of my parents have retired from the education profession. In fact, my dad was a former school superintendent. My mom is a retired special needs coordinator and two of my three sisters are teachers. My wife, Christina, is a high school Spanish teacher and we are the proud parents of two boys ages ten and five. To keep up with them, I trained and ran in my first marathon in Chicago last year.

I am looking forward to getting to know you better as well. It is important that Burr Ridge 180 community members come together in providing a world-class dedication to excellence for every student. I look forward to working with you.

Best Wishes,
Thomas Schneider, Ed. D.
