CCSD180 Reaches Out to Families in Need Over the Holiday Season
January 19, 2012
CCSD 180 reaches out to families in need over the Holiday Season.
The social workers at CCSD 180 (Lynn Moynihan, Meghan Radtke, and Beth Reynolds) worked with numerous outside agencies, community members and over 30 staff members to help make the Holiday Season a happy one for many of the districts’ families, with their Adopt-A-Family Program. It has become an annual tradition that started 12 years ago. At that time, the social work team coordinated an effort that helped approximately 10 families. The need in the area has grown dramatically and peoples’ generosity has risen to meet the need. This December 2011, 138 families were helped which included 316 children from birth through 8th grade from our school district. Each year we are concerned if we will be able to help all of those in need, but somehow, someway the need always gets meet. We have branched out beyond our staff to help and now some local businesses (RML Specialty Hospital, The Community House, Midwest Laser, to name a few) have joined the efforts to ensure that all can celebrate with their families.
