Burr Ridge School District 180

District Names Community Member Elizabeth Wilson to Board of Education July 8, 2025

The Burr Ridge CCSD 180 Board of Education named Burr Ridge resident Elizabeth Wilson as a member of the Board of Education at their July 7, 2025 meeting.

Ms. Wilson will fill the vacancy resulting from the relocation out of the district of board member Ms. Joanne Krypel. Ms. Krypel has served on the Board since 2024.

Ms. Wilson will serve on the Board from the date of appointment to April, 2027.

The Board previously established qualifications for the appointee in a careful and thoughtful manner for a vacancy which occurred when the Board was seated after the April 1st election. Ms. Wilson meets these qualifications and has demonstrated the willingness to accept the duties and responsibilities of a Board member.

Ms. Wilson has been a resident of Burr Ridge for five years and has a bachelor's degree in Special Education and holds a Master's in School Counseling. Ms. Wilson is returning to the field of education this fall after taking time off to raise her children the past few years.

Ms. Wilson has taught students with diverse abilities across a variety of settings and age groups and has collaborated and co-taught with many educators throughout her career.

During the selection process the Board sought a candidate whose expertise and knowledge of the community could assist the district in reaching its recently determined district goals. The Board publicly set these goals to help provide direction to the teachers and staff for the coming years. Those goals are published on the district's website.
